My Track Record of Service, Experience & Success

By David Haubert, Mayor of Dublin

As a young man, I learned the fruits of service from the boy scouts. It was challenging and full of tough decisions. It’s not always easy for teenagers to volunteer or develop unique service projects when they could be out with their friends. But I stuck with it and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1985. Little did I know that would set me on a path of public service for many decades to come and harden a characteristic that is all too often lacking in our elected officials: commitment.

When we first arrived to Dublin in 2000, Alameda County wanted to construct a new juvenile hall in Dublin and it became clear that the school system had fallen into disrepair. So I stepped forward and helped convinced the County to instead retrofit their existing building in San Leandro. To address our failing schools, I became the Chairman of my daughter’s School Site Council. Later, I would run to serve on the Dublin Unified School District Board of Trustees.

As President of the Dublin Unified School Board, I made sure the students had the support they needed to succeed. Together we:

✓Balanced school budgets while increasing test scores district wide

✓Built new schools while repairing and modernizing aged campuses

✓Set land aside for future school needs

As Mayor, I’ve been able to broaden my focus beyond just our schools.  I’m committed to ensuring Dublin remains a safe and wonderful place to raise a family. I’m proud that under my watch we:

✓Built new parks in Dublin

✓Reduced housing density and protected our quality of life

✓Provided our police and fire services the support they need

✓Attracted new businesses while protecting Dublin’s character and quality of life

✓Brought high tech, quality jobs to Dublin

✓Called for a citywide pause on housing to better control Dublin’s growth

I would be honored to remain your Mayor and hope I can count on your support this election.
